Ingredients
- 500g game meat sausage
- 2 sheets of puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 red chili, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Remove the sausage meat from its casing and divide it into 6 equal portions.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut each sheet into 6 equal squares.
- Place a portion of sausage meat onto each pastry square and fold the pastry over the meat, sealing the edges with a fork.
- Brush the pastry with the beaten egg wash.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
- While the sausage rolls are baking, prepare the tomato chutney. In a saucepan, combine the onion, tomatoes, red chili, ginger, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the chutney thickens, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Namibische Wild-Wurstbrötchen with the spicy tomato chutney on the side.
