Nandu Barthad (kodava Style Crab Fry)

Ingredients

  • 500g fresh crab meat
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3-4 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoons red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • Few curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash the crab meat thoroughly. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat coconut oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add green chilies and ginger-garlic paste. Sauté for a few minutes.
  4. Now, add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add the crab meat and mix gently to coat the spices. Cook for 10-15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the crab is cooked and the masala is well coated, garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot.
