Narkel Murgh Malai (creamy Coconut Chicken Curry)
Narkel Murgh Malai, also known as Creamy Coconut Chicken Curry, is a popular dish in Bangladeshi cuisine. This rich and flavorful curry is made with tender chicken cooked in a creamy coconut sauce, infused with aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into cubes
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the chicken cubes and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Stir in the turmeric, cumin, coriander, and red chili powders. Cook for a couple of minutes.
- Pour in the coconut milk and season with salt. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce thickens.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves before serving.
