Village-style Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Kampung) is a popular Malaysian dish that is packed with flavor and perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked white rice
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 red chilies, sliced
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, bell peppers)
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the minced garlic, chopped onion, and sliced red chilies. Stir-fry until fragrant.
- Push the ingredients to one side of the wok, pour the beaten eggs onto the empty side, and scramble until cooked.
- Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for a few minutes until they are tender-crisp.
- Stir in the cooked rice, soy sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue stir-frying until everything is heated through.
- Transfer the fried rice to a serving dish and garnish with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and a sprinkle of fried shallots, if desired.
