Nasi Goreng Makassar (makassar-style Fried Rice)
Nasi Goreng Makassar is a popular Indonesian fried rice dish that originates from the city of Makassar in South Sulawesi. This flavorful and aromatic fried rice is a staple in Makassar cuisine and is often enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked white rice
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 200g chicken breast, diced
- 100g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon shrimp paste (terasi)
- 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the beaten eggs and scramble until cooked. Remove from the wok and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the same wok.
- Sauté the garlic, onion, and green chilies until fragrant.
- Add the diced chicken and cook until no longer pink.
- Stir in the shrimp and cook until they turn pink and opaque.
- Add the cooked rice to the wok and stir-fry with the chicken and shrimp mixture.
- Season the rice with sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, shrimp paste, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the scrambled eggs back into the wok and toss everything together until heated through.
- Remove from heat and serve the Nasi Goreng Makassar hot.
