Natsiq Flipper Soup, also known as Seal Flipper Soup, is a traditional dish from Chukchi Cuisine that is hearty, flavorful, and perfect for warming up on a cold day.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs seal flippers, cleaned and skinned
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 3 potatoes, diced
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 cups water
Instructions
- Place the seal flippers in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
- Skim off any foam that rises to the surface, then add the onion, carrots, potatoes, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
- Cover and simmer for an additional hour, or until the meat is tender.
- Remove the bay leaf and serve hot.
