Nauruan Pulled Pork

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 cup Nauruan barbecue sauce
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, and paprika. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  3. Place the seasoned pork shoulder on top of the onions and garlic in the slow cooker.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the Nauruan barbecue sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth. Pour the mixture over the pork shoulder.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or until the pork is very tender.
  6. Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  7. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir it into the sauce.
  8. Serve the Nauruan pulled pork on buns or alongside your favorite side dishes.
