Neer Dosa With Coconut Chutney (fragrant Coconut Rice)
Neer Dosa is a traditional South Indian crepe made with rice batter and coconut chutney is a classic accompaniment. This recipe also includes fragrant coconut rice, a popular dish from Mangalurean Cuisine.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice flour
- 1 cup freshly grated coconut
- 2-3 green chilies
- 1-inch ginger
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a blender, combine grated coconut, green chilies, ginger, and salt. Add water and blend to a smooth chutney consistency.
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour and salt. Gradually add water while whisking to form a thin batter.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Pour a ladleful of batter and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin crepe. Cook for a minute and fold it in half.
- Rinse the basmati rice and cook it with water and salt in a rice cooker or on the stovetop until done.
