Ingredients

  • 500g fish, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 2 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger and garlic paste, and cook for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add the grated coconut and tamarind paste, and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add the fish pieces and gently mix with the masala. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the fish is tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
