Nigerian Beef Shawarma

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • 4 pita bread
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, curry powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to make the sauce. Set aside.
  2. Season the thinly sliced beef with salt and pepper, then cook in a skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through.
  3. Warm the pita bread in the skillet for a few seconds on each side.
  4. Spread the sauce on the warmed pita bread, then layer with the cooked beef, shredded cabbage, carrots, and sliced onions.
  5. Roll up the pita bread tightly, then wrap in parchment paper or foil to hold it together.
  6. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 4 shawarma wraps.
