Nihari Delight
Nihari Delight is a traditional Pakistani dish known for its rich and flavorful gravy, tender meat, and aromatic spices. This slow-cooked stew is a perfect comfort food for a cozy family dinner or a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef shank
- 1/2 cup ghee
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup wheat flour
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp fennel seed powder
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder
- 1/2 tsp mace powder
- 6 cups water
- Salt to taste
- Ginger julienne, fresh coriander, and green chilies for garnish
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a large pot and fry the onions until golden brown.
- Add beef shank and cook until it changes color.
- Stir in wheat flour and cook until it turns golden.
- Add ginger paste, garlic paste, and yogurt. Cook for a few minutes.
- Now add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, fennel seed powder, nutmeg powder, and mace powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in water and season with salt. Cover and cook on low heat for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender.
- Garnish with ginger julienne, fresh coriander, and green chilies.
