Nishallo (nutty Chickpea Stew)
Nishallo is a traditional Tajik dish that is a hearty and flavorful nutty chickpea stew. This dish is packed with protein and is perfect for a comforting and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chickpeas
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 4 cups vegetable broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened.
- Add the ground cumin and coriander, and cook for another minute to toast the spices.
- Stir in the cooked chickpeas, chopped walnuts, and vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 45 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Nishallo hot, garnished with additional chopped walnuts if desired.
