Norwegian Reindeer Meatballs

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground reindeer meat
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground reindeer meat, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
- Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, whisk together the flour and beef or vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Stir in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Serve the Norwegian Reindeer Meatballs hot, with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes on the side.
