Nshima Stuffed Peppers (sadza Stuffed Peppers)
Nshima Stuffed Peppers, also known as Sadza Stuffed Peppers, are a delicious and hearty dish from Zimbabwe. This recipe combines the traditional Zimbabwean staple, nshima (sadza), with flavorful peppers for a unique and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 2 cups nshima (sadza)
- 1 cup cooked black-eyed peas
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a bowl, mix together the nshima, cooked black-eyed peas, chopped onion, diced tomatoes, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the nshima mixture and place them in a large pot.
- Add a little water to the bottom of the pot, cover, and simmer over medium heat for 30-40 minutes, or until the peppers are tender.
- If desired, sprinkle grated cheese on top of the stuffed peppers during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
- Remove from heat and let the stuffed peppers cool for a few minutes before serving.
