Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and cold butter. Use a pastry cutter or fork to mix until crumbly.
  2. Add cold water and mix until the dough comes together. Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the chopped nuts, sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the filling.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread the nut filling evenly over the dough.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly, jelly-roll style, and place seam side down on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before slicing and serving.
