Okinawan Shrimp Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 20 round dumpling wrappers

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse the shrimp until finely chopped.
  2. Transfer the chopped shrimp to a bowl and add water chestnuts, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Place a small spoonful of the shrimp mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper in half and press to seal.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of oil. Place the dumplings in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
  5. Add 1/2 cup of water to the skillet, cover, and steam the dumplings for 5 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked through.
  6. Serve the Okinawan Shrimp Dumplings hot with soy sauce for dipping.
