Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and eggs. Mix until smooth.
- Stir in the raisins and let the batter rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Scoop spoonfuls of the batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
