Ingredients
- 500g onions, thinly sliced
- 200g bacon, diced
- 300g all-purpose flour
- 150g cold butter, cubed
- 2 eggs
- 200ml sour cream
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, cook the onions over medium heat until soft and caramelized. Season with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and cold butter. Use your hands to rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add the eggs and sour cream to the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and transfer it to a greased baking dish.
- Spread the caramelized onions and bacon over the dough.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Let the Onion Cake cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
