Onion Cake (zwiebelkuchen Delight)

Ingredients

  • 500g onions, thinly sliced
  • 200g bacon, diced
  • 300g all-purpose flour
  • 150g cold butter, cubed
  • 2 eggs
  • 200ml sour cream
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook the onions over medium heat until soft and caramelized. Season with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the flour and cold butter. Use your hands to rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  5. Add the eggs and sour cream to the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and transfer it to a greased baking dish.
  7. Spread the caramelized onions and bacon over the dough.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  9. Let the Onion Cake cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
