Orange Tart (tarta De Naranja)
This Orange Tart, or Tarta de Naranja, is a delightful dessert from Valencian cuisine that showcases the bright and zesty flavors of oranges. It's the perfect way to end a meal with a burst of citrusy sweetness.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 2 tablespoons orange zest
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a food processor, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add 1 egg and pulse until the dough comes together.
- Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan, covering the bottom and sides. Prick the bottom with a fork and chill for 15 minutes.
- Bake the crust for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let it cool completely.
- In a bowl, whisk together the remaining egg, granulated sugar, orange juice, and orange zest. Pour the mixture into the cooled crust.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set. Let it cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the cooled tart.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
