Ostefondue (danish Cheese Fondue)
Ostefondue, or Danish Cheese Fondue, is a delightful dish that brings people together around a warm pot of melted cheese. This traditional Danish recipe is perfect for a cozy night in or a festive gathering with friends and family.
Ingredients
- 400g Danish Havarti cheese, grated
- 200g Danish Blue cheese, crumbled
- 1 clove garlic, halved
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 loaf of crusty bread, cut into bite-sized cubes
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the grated Havarti cheese and crumbled Blue cheese with cornstarch until well coated.
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the cut sides of the garlic clove.
- Pour the white wine into the fondue pot and heat over medium heat until it starts to simmer.
- Gradually add the cheese mixture to the pot, stirring constantly in a figure-eight motion until the cheese is melted and smooth.
- Season with freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Place the fondue pot over a fondue burner at the table and serve with the cubed bread for dipping.
