Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) beef, thinly sliced
- 1 cup (250g) roasted peanuts
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 shallots
- 1 inch (2.5cm) ginger
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 2 cups (500ml) water
- Salt to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- Grind the roasted peanuts into a fine paste and set aside.
- In a food processor, blend the garlic, shallots, and ginger into a smooth paste.
- In a large pot, combine the beef, garlic-shallot-ginger paste, turmeric, coriander, cumin, chili powder, tamarind paste, sweet soy sauce, and water. Cook over medium heat until the beef is tender and the sauce thickens.
- Thread the cooked beef onto the soaked skewers and grill or pan-fry until golden brown and slightly charred.
- Serve the Padang Satay with the peanut sauce and enjoy!
