Palak Aloo (creamy Spinach And Potato Curry)
Palak Aloo is a classic Saraiki dish that combines the goodness of spinach with the heartiness of potatoes in a creamy and flavorful curry. This dish is perfect for a comforting and nutritious meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh spinach, washed and chopped
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger, and sauté for a minute.
- Stir in the pureed tomatoes, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add the diced potatoes and chopped spinach. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the water, cover the pan, and let the curry simmer until the potatoes are tender.
- Stir in the heavy cream and simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
