Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow lentils
- 4 cups fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Wash the lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pot and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until onions are golden brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
- Add turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the soaked lentils and water. Cook until the lentils are soft.
- Add chopped spinach and cook for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
- Palak Dal is ready to be served hot with rice or naan.
