Palak Paneer (creamy Palak Paneer)
Palak Paneer is a classic Indian dish made with spinach and paneer, a type of Indian cheese. This creamy and flavorful dish is a staple in Indian cuisine and is perfect for vegetarians and paneer lovers.
Ingredients
- 2 bunches of fresh spinach, washed and chopped
- 200g paneer, cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
Instructions
- Blanch the spinach in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain and transfer to a bowl of ice water. Drain again and blend into a smooth puree.
- Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic. Sauté until the onions are golden brown.
- Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the spinach puree and cook for 5 minutes. Then add the cubed paneer and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the heavy cream and mix well. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Palak Paneer is ready to be served hot with naan or rice.
