Palak Paneer (creamy Spinach Curry)
Palak Paneer is a classic Pashtun dish featuring creamy spinach and soft paneer cheese. This vegetarian curry is packed with flavor and nutrients, making it a popular choice for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 2 bunches of spinach, washed and chopped
- 200g paneer cheese, cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
Instructions
- Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili. Sauté for a minute.
- Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
- Add turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the chopped spinach and cook until wilted.
- Add the cubed paneer and heavy cream. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Palak Paneer is ready to be served hot with naan or rice.
