Ceviche de Camarones de Ciudad de Panamá, or Panama City Shrimp Ceviche, is a refreshing and flavorful dish that is perfect for a hot day. This Panamanian ceviche is made with fresh shrimp, lime juice, and a mix of vegetables and herbs, creating a delicious and zesty appetizer or light meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup lime juice
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the shrimp and lime juice. Make sure the shrimp is completely submerged in the lime juice. Cover and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, or until the shrimp turns opaque and "cooked" in the lime juice.
- Once the shrimp is "cooked," drain the lime juice and add the red onion, bell pepper, tomato, cilantro, and jalapeño to the bowl. Toss to combine.
- Season the ceviche with salt and pepper to taste.
- Chill the ceviche in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
