Paneer Butter Masala

Paneer Butter Masala

Ingredients

  • 250g paneer, cubed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 cups tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts, soaked and ground to a paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar (optional)
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan and sauté the paneer cubes until they turn golden brown. Remove the paneer from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add the remaining butter and sauté the chopped onions until they turn translucent.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  4. Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the raw smell disappears.
  5. Add the cashew nut paste, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and let the gravy simmer for a few minutes.
  7. Add the sautéed paneer cubes and mix gently. If using honey or sugar, add it at this stage.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
