Paneer Makhani (paneer Butter Masala)

Paneer Makhani, also known as Paneer Butter Masala, is a popular dish in Anglo-Indian cuisine. It is a rich and creamy curry made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a tomato-based gravy with butter and cream.

Ingredients

  • 250g paneer, cubed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan and sauté the paneer cubes until golden. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add the remaining butter and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  4. Pour in the tomato puree, red chili powder, garam masala, sugar, and salt. Cook until the gravy thickens.
  5. Add the sautéed paneer cubes and cream. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
