Paneer Makhani (paneer Butter Masala)
Paneer Makhani, also known as Paneer Butter Masala, is a popular dish in Anglo-Indian cuisine. It is a rich and creamy curry made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a tomato-based gravy with butter and cream.
Ingredients
- 250g paneer, cubed
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan and sauté the paneer cubes until golden. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining butter and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Pour in the tomato puree, red chili powder, garam masala, sugar, and salt. Cook until the gravy thickens.
- Add the sautéed paneer cubes and cream. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
