Paneer Makhani (paneer Tikka Masala)
Paneer Makhani, also known as Paneer Tikka Masala, is a popular dish in Anglo-Indian cuisine. This creamy and flavorful dish is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a rich and aromatic tomato-based gravy.
Ingredients
- 250g paneer, cubed
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup cashew nuts, soaked and ground into a paste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the paneer cubes with yogurt, red chili powder, and salt. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat butter in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
- Add the cashew nut paste, garam masala, turmeric powder, and kasuri methi. Cook for a few minutes.
- Add the marinated paneer cubes and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the heavy cream and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
