Paniyar Mankho (assamese Style Paneer Curry)

Ingredients

  • 250g paneer, cubed
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  4. Stir in the turmeric, cumin, and coriander powders, and cook for a minute.
  5. Add the yogurt and cook until the mixture thickens.
  6. Pour in the water and bring the curry to a gentle simmer.
  7. Add the paneer cubes, garam masala, and salt. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
