Paniyar Tenga (assamese Style Paneer Soup)

Ingredients

  • 200g paneer, cubed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pot and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the grated ginger and chopped green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  4. Add the diced carrots, green peas, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Pour in the water and bring the soup to a boil. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Add the cubed paneer and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
