Paniyar Tenga (assamese Style Paneer Soup)
Paniyar Tenga is a traditional Assamese style paneer soup that is light, flavorful, and packed with the goodness of fresh vegetables and spices. This comforting soup is perfect for a cozy evening or as a starter for a special meal.
Ingredients
- 200g paneer, cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pot and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the grated ginger and chopped green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
- Add the diced carrots, green peas, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Pour in the water and bring the soup to a boil. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Add the cubed paneer and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
