Paniyar Tenga (assamese Style Paneer Stew)
Paniyar Tenga is a traditional Assamese stew made with paneer, a type of Indian cheese. This flavorful and comforting dish is perfect for a cozy meal on a chilly day.
Ingredients
- 250g paneer, cubed
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 cup water
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the grated ginger and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
- Now, add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add the turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes.
- Add the cubed paneer and stir gently to coat the paneer with the spices.
- Pour in the water and season with salt. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
