Ingredients
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup lentil dumplings (mangodi)
- 2-3 papads
- 1 tablespoon gram flour (besan)
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk the yogurt and gram flour together to make a smooth mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, and asafoetida. Let them splutter.
- Add the yogurt mixture to the pan and stir continuously on low heat.
- Add turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add water and lentil dumplings. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Break the papads into small pieces and add them to the curry. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
