Papar Stuffed Fish
Papar Stuffed Fish is a traditional dish from Sabahan Cuisine that features a flavorful mixture of ingredients stuffed inside a fresh fish, creating a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 whole fish, cleaned and scaled
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
Instructions
- Preheat the stovetop to medium heat.
- In a bowl, mix the cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, diced tomato, tamarind paste, turmeric powder, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the fish cavity with the rice mixture.
- Heat the cooking oil in a pan and place the stuffed fish in the pan.
- Cook the fish for about 10-12 minutes on each side, or until it is cooked through and golden brown.
- Once cooked, remove the fish from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
