Papricas De Pui (aromanian Chicken Paprikash)
Papricas de pui, also known as Aromanian Chicken Paprikash, is a traditional dish from the Aromanian cuisine. This hearty and flavorful chicken stew is made with a rich paprika-infused sauce, and it's perfect for a comforting family meal.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs and cook until browned on both sides. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic and sweet paprika, and cook for another minute.
- Pour in the chicken broth and return the chicken thighs to the pot. Bring to a simmer, then cover and cook for 45 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
- Stir in the sour cream and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
- Serve the papricas de pui hot, garnished with a sprinkle of paprika, and alongside your favorite side dishes.
