Pare Isi Tumis (stuffed Bitter Melon Stir-fry)

Ingredients

  • 2 bitter melons
  • 250g ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 red chilies, sliced
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bitter melon by cutting it in half lengthwise and removing the seeds and pith.
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onion, garlic, red chilies, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Stuff the bitter melon halves with the ground beef mixture.
  4. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Add the stuffed bitter melon and cook until the meat is browned and the bitter melon is tender, about 15 minutes.
