Pashtun Chicken Korma
Pashtun Chicken Korma is a traditional dish from Pashtun Cuisine, known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This creamy and mildly spiced chicken korma is a perfect main course for any special occasion or family gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 onions, finely sliced
- 1/2 cup ghee or oil
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1/2 cup ground almonds
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg, grated
- 1/4 tsp mace, ground
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat ghee/oil in a large pot and fry the onions until golden brown.
- Add the chicken pieces, ginger paste, and garlic paste. Cook until the chicken changes color.
- Stir in the yogurt, ground almonds, coconut milk, and all the spices. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
