Pashtun Lamb Tikka

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs lamb, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together yogurt, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and lemon juice.
  2. Add the lamb cubes to the marinade and coat them evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto skewers, alternating with slices of onion.
  4. Brush the skewers with oil and grill for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Remove from the grill and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve hot with naan or rice.
