Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp lemon zest

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and lemon zest.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes, then place it in a greased bowl and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and knead in the raisins and almonds.
  6. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the paska for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Let the paska cool before serving.
