Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar.
  2. Add the softened butter and eggs to the bowl, and mix well.
  3. Warm the milk slightly and add the yeast, allowing it to activate for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the milk and yeast mixture to the bowl, and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes, then place it in a greased bowl to rise for 1 hour.
  6. After the dough has risen, punch it down and add the raisins, almonds, salt, and vanilla extract. Knead until well combined.
  7. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the Paska for 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow the Paska to cool before slicing and serving.
