Pastel De Atum (spicy Tuna Empanadas)
Pastel de Atum, or Spicy Tuna Empanadas, is a popular snack in East Timor cuisine. These savory pastries are filled with a spicy tuna mixture and are perfect for a quick and delicious meal or snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cans of tuna, drained
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 red chili, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package of empanada dough
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the tuna, onion, garlic, red chili, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the tuna mixture onto each empanada dough round.
- Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the empanadas until golden brown.
- Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
