Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Season the beef with cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Boil the diced potatoes in a pot of salted water until tender. Drain and mash the potatoes with milk and butter until smooth and creamy.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Spread half of the mashed potatoes in the bottom of a greased baking dish.
  6. Top the potatoes with the seasoned ground beef mixture.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the beef layer.
  8. Spread the remaining mashed potatoes over the cheese layer.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
