Ingredients

  • 1 package (17.3 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup guava paste, cut into 12 equal pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 12 equal squares.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square, then top with a piece of guava paste.
  5. Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash, then fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle. Press the edges to seal.
  6. Place the pastelitos on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the remaining egg wash.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastelitos are golden brown and puffed.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
