Patacones Tacos, also known as Tacos de Patacones, are a delicious and popular dish in Panamanian cuisine. This recipe combines the crispy texture of fried plantains with flavorful taco fillings, creating a unique and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 4 green plantains, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the plantain slices until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels. Flatten the fried plantains with a flat surface to form the patacones.
- In the same skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until the beef is browned and the vegetables are tender. Add the diced tomatoes, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- To assemble the tacos, place a spoonful of the beef mixture on each patacone. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream.
