Ingredients

  • 500g carp fish, cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 4 tbsp sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry the carp fish until golden brown. Set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add the tomatoes, bell peppers, tamarind paste, sweet soy sauce, sugar, and water. Stir well.
  4. Bring the sauce to a simmer and add the fried carp fish. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the fish is fully cooked and the sauce has thickened.
  5. Season with salt to taste.
  6. Serve the Patin Asam Manis hot with steamed rice.
