Peanut Chutney, also known as Spicy Shenga Chutney, is a popular condiment in Uttara Karnataka Cuisine. It is a delicious and versatile chutney that pairs well with various dishes such as dosa, idli, and vada.
Ingredients
- 1 cup roasted peanuts
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- 1 small piece of tamarind
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Instructions
- In a blender, combine roasted peanuts, dried red chilies, chopped onion, garlic cloves, tamarind, and salt.
- Add water as needed to blend into a smooth chutney.
- Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl.
- Temper with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and a pinch of asafoetida for added flavor (optional).
