Ingredients

  • 4 pearl spot fish fillets
  • 2 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 4 banana leaves, cut into 8x8 inch squares
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Clean the fish fillets and make 2-3 slits on each fillet.
  2. In a bowl, mix red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, onions, and salt to make a thick masala paste.
  3. Marinate the fish fillets with the masala paste and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  4. Place each marinated fish fillet on a banana leaf square, spoon some coconut milk over it, and wrap it securely.
  5. Heat coconut oil in a pan and place the wrapped fish fillets in it.
  6. Cover the pan and cook the fish on low heat for 10-12 minutes on each side until the banana leaf turns slightly brown.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
