Peixe Assado (portuguese Style Baked Fish)
Peixe Assado is a traditional Macanese dish that features Portuguese-style baked fish, infused with aromatic spices and flavors. This dish is a perfect blend of Portuguese and Chinese culinary influences, making it a unique and delicious addition to any meal.
Ingredients
- 1 whole fish (such as sea bass or snapper), cleaned and scaled
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Make 3 diagonal cuts on each side of the fish.
- In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, paprika, cumin, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the fish, including inside the cuts.
- Place the lemon slices inside the cavity of the fish.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the fish.
- Place the fish on a baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Serve the Peixe Assado hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
