Peixe Assado (portuguese Style Baked Fish)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole fish (such as sea bass or snapper), cleaned and scaled
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Make 3 diagonal cuts on each side of the fish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, paprika, cumin, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the fish, including inside the cuts.
  5. Place the lemon slices inside the cavity of the fish.
  6. Drizzle the olive oil over the fish.
  7. Place the fish on a baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Serve the Peixe Assado hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
