Ingredients
- 2 bitter melons, halved and deseeded
- 250g mackerel, finely chopped
- 4 shallots, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 red chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 4 kaffir lime leaves, thinly sliced
- 4 banana leaves, cut into 8 squares
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the chopped mackerel, shallots, garlic, red chilies, turmeric powder, salt, sugar, and kaffir lime leaves.
- Stuff the bitter melon halves with the fish mixture.
- Wrap each stuffed bitter melon in a piece of banana leaf and secure with toothpicks.
- Steam the wrapped bitter melon for 30 minutes.
- Remove from the steamer and let them cool before serving.
