Perast Stuffed Mussels
Perast Stuffed Mussels is a traditional dish from Montenegrin cuisine that features delicious mussels stuffed with a flavorful mixture of herbs, breadcrumbs, and cheese.
Ingredients
- 20 fresh mussels
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Scrub and debeard the mussels, then steam them until they open. Discard any mussels that do not open.
- Remove the top shell from each mussel and discard.
- In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, and black pepper.
- Spoon the breadcrumb mixture onto each mussel.
- Drizzle olive oil over the stuffed mussels.
- Broil the mussels for 5-7 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
- Serve with lemon wedges.
